ED BURNETT
2ND VICE CHAIRMAN

Mr. Edward L. Burnett (Elected to Board in 2008), retired from Lockheed Martin “Skunk Works” after a 38-year career. Mr. Burnett was the Senior Fellow for Modeling, Simulation, and Controls.  He was also the Program Manager for the X-56A, the Multi-utility Aeroelastic Demonstration (MAD) program. Mr. Burnett worked on several aircraft programs throughout his career, including F-117A, YF-22 / F-22A, X-35 / F-35, U-2, and many others. Mr. Burnett now provides engineering consulting services part time.

Ed is Fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA). He is a past Chair of the AIAA Modeling and Simulation Technical Committee, a member of the higher Education Committee, and a Member of SFTE, SAE. AOPA, and the EAA.

He received his B.S. and M.S. in Aeronautical Engineering in 1983 and 1984 respectively, both from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. Ed is currently the Chair of the Cal Poly Aerospace Engineering Industrial Advisory. Ed has also taught the History of Aerospace course at Cal Poly, SLO.

Ed enjoys flying, sailing, skiing (both snow and water), scuba diving, and traveling. He has also worked as a consultant on aircraft simulation games, major motion pictures, and theatrical special effects.   Ed is a Life Patron of the Flight Test Museum Foundation.
