Alexia Svedjda

Alexia Svejda is a native Idahoan that has called Eastern Kern County home for 25 years. In her current position she is working to grow the area’s aerospace industry and talent pipeline. She started her career teaching English at the Defense Language Institute and continued in the education field as a teacher trainer for the states of Texas, Colorado, and North Carolina. While in Colorado she was the executive director of a regional adult literacy program. As the Air Force moved her family across the country she had several more opportunities to lead nonprofits.

When she is not working she enjoys traveling, macro photography, leading educational nature walks, hiking, cooking with her family, contributing to citizen science projects, and walking her cat.

Alexia serves on numerous volunteer nonprofit boards. She is the past president of the Cerro Coso Community College Foundation Board, the grants coordinator for the Edwards AFB Civilian-Military Support Group, and president of STARBASE Edwards, Inc. among others.

Alexia holds a bachelors in German from Utah State University, a masters in Bilingual-Bicultural Studies from the University of Texas – San Antonio and a certificate of Nonprofit Management from Duke University.
